November In Corona

A Message from the Editor

Friday Night Lights "In Corona"
Although I don't have any kids in High School, we recently decided on a family night outing to check out a local High school football game In Corona. Maybe it was the fall weather or perhaps not having a pro team in the area but I felt the need for some fall football. So off I went with a very enthusiastic 10 year old boy and a very reluctant teenage girl.

The closest high school to us was Santiago. Parking 40 feet from the field was $2 and I got the whole gang in for $16 and our seats were great. The first thing to hit us was the lights! Not only the stadium lights but the panoramic view of all the twinkling lights In Corona, it is an awesome view!

Things have changed a little since the last time I was at a high school game. We knew from the opening with the Star Spangled Banner performed by the Santiago choir "The Madrigals", we were in for a treat.

The level of play was incredible with an action packed game. These guys execute plays you would expect to see in college ball. It was hard hitting action from beginning to end. The student body really supported their team both when they were leading and even harder when they were down.

The half time show blew us away with jeeps racing around the track. The theatrical / musical production of an "Indiana Jones" search to find the King and Queen was really well performed. The music and routines by the dance groups were well rehearsed and nobody missed a step or flaming baton.

The team came back in the second half for a battle that lasted until the final seconds of the game. The Sharks had us standing on our seats the last few minutes of the game as they came back to score the deciding touchdown with just a few seconds left!

If it has been a while since you caught a high school game, we highly encourage you to take in a local game In Corona at one of our High Schools. These guys play hard, the seats are great and you won't break the bank even with the whole family!

Oh yeah, and as for that reluctant teenager, she is already checking the schedule for the next game!

If you still haven't had a chance to check out The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos that might make you one of the last few left In Corona. More and More shops are opening weekly and some of the restaurants are starting to open. The lakes are great for a stroll but you need to pick up a hot or cold drink from Starbucks at Corona Crossings until the Starbucks at Dos Lagos opens.

Thanksgiving falls on the 23rd this year giving us all an extra week of shopping leading up to Christmas. Be sure to check out our list of local shops and stores at www.incorona.com/shopping.htm .

You still have a chance to visit the Fender Center in November to see the Johnny Cash: An American Icon Exhibit. This limited time exhibit features instruments, awards, and memorabilia used by Johnny Cash over his five-decade career.

On the 30th of November, we have one of our favorite nostalgistic event, The Holiday Lighting Ceremony at the Civic Center. This is a great event to remind us of the simple true meaning of Christmas and set the mood as we head into December.

A Message from the Editor
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas In Corona.
No, I haven’t lost my mind and actually Costco beat me to it with the Santa walkway lights they started selling in August. What I am referring to is that September begins the sales cycle that leads up to Christmas. This is a time that some retailers make as much as 60% of their revenue for the year.

If you are a shopper this is a great time for some early shopping to beat the rush and get some great deals. This is the perfect time to make a rough list of friends and family and start matching items to find the perfect gift that fits them to a tee.

If you are a retailer now is the time to get your advertising program in place for the holidays! It's a good idea to take care of your advertising now so that when you business spikes in the holiday months you can concentrate on your customers and not ad scheduling, meeting with ad companies and reviewing proofs.

InCorona.com can make this the year you remember for ease in preparing for the Holidays!
For you shoppers check our listings on local stores, specialty shops, catering, and restaurants on our site. We can help you find the right place In Corona before you leave the driveway.
For you retailers visit our site or contact us to learn how we can put together an affordable online advertising campaign for the holidays that will make your phones ring and bring customers to your door.

Our city has so much to offer, new stores, shops, specialty stores and restaurants. It’s going to be one of the best holiday seasons ever In Corona!

September In Corona
September kicks right into gear with the 59th Annual Norco Valley Fair with our sister city Norco, remember Norco = North Corona. This is a great small town fair that is perfect for the family. Lots of rides, food, live music and horses every where! Visit our sister web site http://www.innorco.com/ for more information!

If you haven't had the chance you should visit the Fender Center in September to see the Johnny Cash: An American Icon Exhibit. This limited time exhibit features instruments, awards, and memorabilia used by Johnny Cash over his five decade career.

On a serious note, there will be a Special Fund Raiser Concert for Officer David Stan Piquette at Backwoods Barbeque on the 10th of September at 1 PM. Be sure to mark this date in your calendar to show your support for Officer Piquette's family and the hard and often dangerous work our Police officers provide for us.

On Sunday, September 17th, The Little Gym is turning 30 and The Little Gym of Corona is celebrating with a free birthday bash for families In Corona. They will have games, prizes, activities and lots of fun!

For some exciting live music, check out InCorona.com's favorite rockers the 5150's playing at Backwoods Barbeque on the 2nd, 8th, 9th, 22nd, and 23rd of September. This is always a good time for some family friendly Rock n' Roll.

For additional information on all these events and more visit our online community calendar. Remember to check the community calendar often at http://www.incorona.com/ as we are adding events every day. Also, if your group or organization has an event to add to the calendar click here to submit your information!

Corona is the place for kids!
Wouldn’t it be great to grow up in a place that is packed full of fun things to do? Like an indoor kart racing track with an European road course or what about a museum, dedicated to the greatest rock guitar manufacturer in the world, that offers concerts and free music lessons to kids? What about a city that appeals to those aspiring little stars with performing arts training in acting, singing and dancing? How about a town that offers the extremes such as paint ball, laser tag, indoor bouncers and rock climbing, inline skating, gymnastics and a sports training center? Or how about a city with a parks and recreation department that offers so many things to do that they put out a magazine of all of their events on a regular basis?

Corona is that place! People drive from many of our surrounding cities to enjoy the excellent programs we have here In Corona. Be sure that you and your family take advantage of all the great things to do in our own backyard, In Corona.

It’s great to be a kid In Corona!

August Is Purple Ribbon Awareness Month
You may have noticed all the purple ribbons being tied to trees, poles, and fences up and down the streets of Corona. If you are new to Corona or have never heard the story, we would like to explain the significance.
Each of those ribbons is there to remind us of the dangers of leaving a child in a car. You see Kaitlyn, the cute little angel in the banner above, was left in a car in August 2000 by her babysitter. Since then Laura Petersen and Kaitlyn's mother, Tammy Russell have worked to remind us of the dangers of leaving a child in a car.
They established the 4 R Kids Sake organization based In Corona that is working to remind us of the many dangers of leaving a child even for a second to run back into the house or to run a quick errand. Their efforts have spread to working with police and fire departments around the country.
August is Purple Ribbon Awareness Month In Corona and as you drive through Corona and see those Purple Ribbons take a moment to remember Kaitlyn and how "Kaitlyn's Law" will live on to save others. This story has touched our hearts at InCorona.com and we now make the kids pile out of the car even for the quickest of errands.
We would encourage you to visit their web site at http://www.4rkidssake.org/ for many facts on the steps you can take to help protect your child and additional information on the efforts of this great organization.

August In Corona
You still have time to catch one of the terrific plays at the Corona Civic center as part of the CATS Summer Theater Festival. Speaking of theaters, especially air-conditioned ones, Edwards Corona 11 on Rincon has a fun filled opening weekend planed for the August 4th opening of Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby and Edwards Corona Crossings continues their Free Family Film Festival on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through August 16th. For some exciting live music check out the 5150's playing at Backwoods Barbeque on the 11th, 12th, and 25th of August.

Is tomorrow's next great star In Corona?
Recently we discovered a really cool program for kids ages 5-18 years In Corona. Kaleidoscope Arts Factory offers an incredible 6-week program for kids where the disciplines of acting, voice and dance are combined into one dynamic class.

The kids receive "hands-on" instruction from industry professionals who have had success on Broadway, television and the music industry. All Kaleidoscope classes are held on the big stage at Stage 1 at Candlewalk. This is a huge treat for the kids because at the end of the 6-week session, they perform a mini-production for a few hundred family and friends. This helps them to gain experience and confidence on the big stage under the bright lights!

Kaleidoscope Arts Factory has a really cool web site and you should visit their site for additional information, calendar of events, pictures and videos of past shows!
http://www.kscopekids.org/

Special Notice ... We just got word that the kids from Kaleidoscope are performing a mini-production Monday July 31st from 7:30-8:30pm. This is a great chance to catch a performance and see the talent and level of professionalism that these kids are learning through the Kaleidoscope program. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $7.00. The performance is located at the big auditorium at Stage 1 at Candlewalk (2331 Kellogg Ave) In Corona. Map

July In Corona
To View an Online Copy of the E-Mailer Click Here

A Message from the Editor One the Great things about living In Corona is you get the best of two worlds. On one hand you have the modern Corona with high-tech business, new upscale shopping and retail centers, and new state-of-the-art entertainment facilities.

On the other hand though, you still can find the charm of yester-year In Corona. Nothing beats Corona at Fourth of July with a parade down main street, flags flying, kids being pulled in wagons and neighbors laughing and having a good time. It stirs up warm feelings of summers past, eating watermelon, running in sprinklers, and playing tag. The Fourth of July In Corona looks like something you would see in a Norman Rockwell painting and is about as American as apple pie.

I would encourage everyone as we are celebrating over the Fourth of July holiday to take a moment to remember those both past and present that fought so that we have this opportunity to celebrate our freedom in this country and here In Corona.

I would also encourage everyone to save some gas, stay off the over-crowded freeways, and enjoy all of the funtastic family events In Corona! Visit our Community Calendar to learn more.

July In Corona
We start July off with a Blast, the Main Street Independence Parade and the Star Spangled Fireworks show on the 4th. We kick off the Corona Concerts in the Park series starting on July 6th, featuring a different band every Thursday night.

The Slacktones will be at the Fender Center on the 15th and we also have our favorite local rock group the 5150's playing at Backwoods Barbeque on most Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month of July.

Check the community calendar at http://www.incorona.com/ as we are adding events every day. Also, if your group or organization has an event to add to the calendar click here to submit your information!

Have a fantastic 4th and month of July! It's going to be a hot one, so please as an added reminder do not leave children or pets in the car!(Purple Ribbon Month Coming in August)

In Corona Fun Fact
Did you know nestled in the Costco shopping plaza on McKinley, Corona has it's own Fine Art Gallery? NCH (Nancy's County Hearts) has a fine art gallery in the rear of the store with paintings by world-renowned artists such as Cao Yong, Susan Rios, Vadik Suljakov, just to name a few!

The paintings are incredible and if you are looking for that special piece of art that will have your guests talking, this is the place. Even if you are not currently in the market for fine art we suggest you stop by and take a moment to appreciate the detail of these works of art.

Fine Dining In Corona
Napa 29 brings Fine Dining to Corona and sets the bar for casual elegance in our city. To find this caliber of dining you used to have to travel to LA, San Francisco, or the Napa wine country but now you can experience this level of excellence right here In Corona.

The atmosphere in Napa 29 is soothing with a feel of a fine dining restaurant that you would find driving along route 29 through the Napa Valley. There is a bar area serving light snacks and their Corona favorite fish tacos. The dining area has a warm feeling with high booths to make your dinner intimate. On Friday and Saturday nights they have live music. On the night my wife and I visited they had light jazz being played at just the right level through our meal.

The quality of the food was incredible and you could instantly taste the difference that sets Napa 29 apart from other restaurants. We enjoyed a scallop appetizer that melted in our mouths. We also enjoyed a cranberry pecan salad that was delicious. Some of Napa 29's favorite entree's include Potato Wrapped Halibut, Peppercorn Steak, and Macadamia Nut Crusted Sea Bass. The portions are of good size and we wished we had left room for dessert.

The staff was attentive but not overly attentive. They were knowledgeable of their menu and helped us in the selection of our meal. All courses arrived hot and right on time. Drinks and bread were kept full throughout the dinner.

After our meal Manger. Alfred Katopodis, took us on a tour of the restaurant. The first thing we noticed was a clean, well organized kitchen with only a small freezer and a very large refrigerator. Napa 29 brings their food in fresh several times throughout the week and you can taste the difference.

The large wine cellar you see as you enter the restaurant is well stocked floor to ceiling with up to 600 of the best wines of the Napa Valley and kept at a constant 55 to 57 degrees. Napa 29 offers wine tasting, corking parties, and has separate banquet rooms for receptions and corporate events.

We can not say enough about the wonderful experience we had at Napa 29 and we would highly suggest Napa 29 for that special evening out. To learn more about Napa 29 and to get a map to the restaurant please visit out Fine Dining page at InCorona.com Fine Dining.

To the men InNorco,

Ladies, women, girls - if you are reading this post go no further and forward this page to the man in your life!

OK Guys, now that it's just us guys, we wanted to let you in on a little InNorco secret. You see Valentine's is just a couple of weeks away. Yes, we know it seems like Christmas was just a couple of weeks ago, but if the new toaster and NFL sports package wasn't a big hit with the wife or girlfriend at Christmas, have we got a great tip to share with you!

NCH (Nancy's Country Hearts) in the Costco shopping center on McKinley will be having their Valentine's Men's Night on February 9th from 6 to 9 PM. If you have never been, this is a great time to go. There will be catered food, drinks and plenty of guy stuff. You see Nancy's makes it easy for us guys.

Nancy's has a great selection of top jewelers in all price ranges. Everything is laid out in an easy selection or if you don't know your Brighton from your Budweiser the great staff will put you on track to a special item that will be a big hit!

Our favorite part is... NO WRAPPING! Nancy's will put your item in a special little bag or box with a bow or ribbon.

NCH has long been a favorite for Valentine's and gifts for all special occasions. Make sure you stroll through the Art Gallery in the back of the store, it's amazing how much great stuff is in this store!

Click here to learn more about NCH and other stores InNorco!

Now for you ladies that do not follow directions and have chosen to read this email. We know who you are! Make sure that you stop by NCH for all the new items in stock and the incredible NCH Art Gallery. Make sure to ask about the "Love Your Heart Necklace" with a donation going to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement for each necklace sold while supplies last.

Happy Valentine's Day!
